The manager of investment research at the World Gold Council has lauded gold as one of the year’s strongest performing asset classes to date. Adrian Perlkay points out that after the Middle East attacks, which saw both gold and oil skyrocket, oil lost 6% after tensions eased, while gold held on to a 1% gain in US dollars.
Perlkay says, “Gold stands apart from the broader commodities complex because of its unique market dynamics and performance drivers.”
He points out that gold offers better risk-adjusted returns in the long term, high liquidity, lower volatility than other commodities and better performance, especially in periods of low inflation – all compelling reasons to add gold to your portfolio sooner rather than later.
